Curb Production Supervisor

Position Summary

Swenson Stone Works, a division of Polycor, has an immediate opening for a full-time Supervisor for our Curbing Plant. The position’s primary responsibility is ensuring safety, culture and operational effectiveness using lean manufacturing tactics with a focus on production efficiency. It is the expectation of a Production Supervisor to be able to develop and mentor all employees under their supervision. The Supervisor will utilize leadership, operations experience, and communication to identify and convert change improvement opportunities related to people, processes, and systems. This position will be located at the production facility in Concord, New Hampshire.

The production facility manufactures granite curbing for the New England market. The production process starts with the sawing department, where large granite blocks provided by the Polycor Group quarries are cut into production-ready slabs. The slabs are then transferred to the curbing production building, which consists of a straight and radial curb production line, and a specialty curbing production area. With the assistance of equipment like granite splitters and diamond blade saws, the slabs are transformed into different types of granite curbs. Once produced, the curbing products are inventoried and loaded onto trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, and direct work for all hourly production employees
• Assist in resolving complaints, and hold employees accountable, as required
• Lead, track, and improve performance on key department goals and objectives 
• Develop crew members to improve individual and plant performance 
• Lead performance management and corrective action processes
• Assist the Plant Manager in scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines and within financial budgets
• Provides effective input on hiring
• Ensure no raw materials shortage in collaboration with the Purchasing Agent
• Maintains products and company reputation by complying with federal safety and environmental regulations (MSHA, NHDES, EPA)
• Keep equipment operational to appropriate capacities by coordinating maintenance and preventive maintenance as well as repair services
• Assists with all other activities as assigned by the Plant Manager

Experience

• 3 years’ experience supervising employees within a manufacturing, production, and/or industrial environment
• Experience in employee relations, progressive discipline, and counseling of employees

Other capabilities:

• Time Management: Working with employees, customers, and management, often handling multiple situations/tasks at once
• Analytical Skills: Needs analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical work day; successful candidate will be analyzing data and making decisions that affect production on a regular basis.
• Management skills: Must be able to direct a team to meet production and financial goals.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office); payroll approval experience
• English is a must; Spanish/French is a plus
