Position Summary

Quarry Technician, Polycor New England Inc, 16 Woodman Hill Road, Jay, Maine 04239 seeks to fill 2 temporary full-time openings from April 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024, at Concord Quarry located at 369 North State Street, Concord, NH 03301 (Merrimack County).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Extracting stone from quarries for building materials.
  • Operating different types of drilling equipment (pneumaticdrilling tools, wire saw, jackhammer, sledge hammer, pressure washer, and manlift such as Tamrock 550 Double Drill, Tamrock 550 Lift Drill, Tamrock 600 Slot Drill, Marini Voyager DTH Track Drill, Dazzini DTH Track Drill, Bennetti DTH, Tamrock Zoom Rail, and Plug Drills) in a quarry and trim yard environment.
  • Drilling deep holes, lift holes, and channel operations in high-pressure conditions.
  • Operating up to 3 to 5 saws simultaneously.
  • Threading diamond wire through connected vertical and horizontal boreholes.
  • Tipping lines (slab of varying sizes) onto the ground with the use of Hydro bags, air bags and loaders equipped with tipping booms.
  • Inspecting ground conditions. Ensuring stone is blocked against movement once on the ground.
  • Laying of dimensional sizes.
  • Drilling and breaking lines.
  • Installing railings and warning lines utilizing the use of pry-bars to pry stone, and lifting and/or carrying wire rope and chain slings (weighing in excess of 40- pounds).
  • Lifting and/or carrying other miscellaneous equipment and materials in excess of 50-pounds.
  • Assisting equipment operators with setting machinery, installing up to 2” mining pins, and sealing of highwalls.
  • Ensuring the installation of removal of ladder and ladder systems.
  • Observing strict safety regulations.

Experience

  • No education or experience required.
  • All required on-the-job training will be provided to the worker including on-site training to become familiar with the different types of equipment and work processes.
  • Must be able to safely operate variety of saws; hand tools (hammer, chipper, pitching tool); pneumatic tools and buzz wheel for grinding; drills for anchor holes; overhead cranes; forklifts; CNC machines; diamond saws; wire saws; splitting machine; joint saws; stand for up to 9 hours at a time; and safely lift and/or carry equipment and materials up to 75- pounds unassisted.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background, and employment eligibility (E-Verify) checks.
  • Post-accident and upon suspicion of use drug testing required.

Terms & Conditions of Employment

  • Temporary & Full-time positions
  • From April 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024, to work 40 hrs,/wk., 8 hrs. per day
  • Mon-Fri, 7:00a.m. to 12p.m. & from 12:30p.m. to 3:30 p.m. when only one (1) shift is worked and 7:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00., & 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. when more than one (1) shift is worked (schedule varies).
  • Starting pay $26.75 hr. Overtime varies. Overtime rate at least $40.13 hr.
  • Employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid on a weekly basis every Thursday (or on Friday of weeks in which a paid holiday occurs on Monday through Thursday) by direct deposit or by check.
  • Employer will offer 40 hours per week. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours, depending on weather, business needs, & other conditions.
  • Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.

If before the expiration date specified in the job order, the services of the worker are no longer required for reasons beyond the control of the employer due to fire, weather, or other Act of God, or similar unforeseeable man-made catastrophic event (such as oil spill or controlled flooding) that is wholly outside the employer’s control that makes the fulfillment of the job order impossible, the employer may terminate the job order with the approval of the CO. Employer must make efforts to transfer the H-2B worker or worker in corresponding employment to other comparable employment acceptable to the worker & consistent with the Immigration & Nationality Act, as applicable. If a transfer is not affected, the employer must return the worker, at the employer’s expense, to the place from which the worker (disregarding intervening employment) came to work for the employer, or transport the worker to the worker’s next certified H-2B employer, whichever the worker prefers.

All benefits are voluntary, and no deductions are taken unless the employee elects the coverage. Employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law. No other deductions will be made. Workers will be reimbursed in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing & other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, & equipment required to perform the job.

Job Locations

369 North State Street, Concord, New Hampshire in Merrimack County. Employer will offer daily transportation to and from the worksite from a centralized designated pick-up location at no cost to workers. Use of this transportation is voluntary.

Housing

Employer does not provide any housing options. Inbound and Outbound Transportation: From the place from which the worker has come to work, whiner in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment, if the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or there the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Subsistence reimbursements will be based on rates specified in the Federal Register (currently $15.46 per day to a maximum of $59.00p/day with receipts). 3/4 Guarantee: Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
