Swenson Granite Works, a division of Polycor, has an immediate opening for a full-time Accounts Payable Assistant. The position will be located at the AFCO Plant (54 Willey Street, Barre, VT). Duties of the Accounts Payable Assistant include providing administrative support to our managers and employees, assisting in daily office needs, and managing our company’s general administrative activities. At the center of the action, this position is key in the daily activities of our plant. The ideal candidate is a versatile person who values a strong work ethic. The job requires multitasking and prioritizing abilities in a fast-paced environment. Resourcefulness is one of your greatest skills. At Swenson Granite Works, our colleagues are our working family. Essential Duties and Responsibilities other duties may be assigned

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the office
  • Screens calls and responds to or routes routine inquiries from external or internal sources with appropriate correspondence or other messaging
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, travel, and other group activities
  • Prepares and distributes reports or other communications on a regular schedule • Maintains files, databases, and archives of relevant records
  • Responsible for researching vendor statements to verify payments; matches check stubs to vendor invoices
  • Receives, sorts and distributes daily mail/deliveries
  • Maintains office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk
  • Responsible for matching, entering, verifying, receiving and correcting purchase orders
  • Responsible to scan and validate invoices, as well as track and record all deliveries
  • Performs other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma
  •  2-3 years’ Accounts Payable/Administrative Assistant experience


• Proficiency in MS Office Products, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; strong focus on Excel


Other capabilities

• Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
• Excellent organizational skills
• Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

• Basic mathematic skills
